Lavern Subirats - La Granada

This stage will take you through a landscape marked by the presence of the ravines, mountain streams, and gullies that are characteristic of the centre of the pre-littoral depression, this geographical area.

Starting at the Lavern Subirats station, head north, towards the Sant Pere Lavern church. Leave it on your right and continue along the path that crosses the Lavernó gully. Continue along Camí de Can Bas, cross the C-243a, and continue on to the Romanesque chapel Sant Joan Salerm, where you will take Camí Sant Sadurní al Pla del Penedès westward until you come to the Carrer Nou path on your left, a path that crosses the Torrent de Can Bas mountain stream and leads to Cases Noves de Can Cartró. Once you are there, cross the Santa Fe gully on the BV-25155 bridge. This is the edge of the township between Santa Fe del Penedès, Subirats, and Avinyonet del Penedès, and it also marks a before and after in the landscape, which gets much more level here.

Just after the bridge, take the path on the right and then the path on the left. You will pass the Barberana country estate and go on to the Mas Messeguer rectory. Then you will turn off to the left, and then a little before Casa Vermella (the Red House), which has a Roman settlement called Jaciment romà de la Torre nearby, you will turn off again to the right and follow Camí de l’Horta, which goes up to La Granada.

You will enter La Granada by the northern doorway in the old walls, and then you will find yourself between the Sant Cristòfol church and Casa del Castlà, very close to the remains of the 10^th-century castle. Continue along Carrer del Mig to the square Plaça de la Font.

At this point, you can go on to the next stage in the direction of Vilafranca or you can go down to the Rodalies train station (950m).
